West Indies tour to New Zealand, Test 1 , Day 5.

          New Zealand Vs. West Indies

                       Match Drawn
New Zealand 609 runs/9 wickets(dec.) - 1st Innings
West Indies 213 runs(all out) - 1st Innings
West Indies 507 runs/10 wickets (f/o) (1.0 overs) - 2nd Innings
New Zealand 79 runs/4 wickets(30 overs) - 2nd Innings

Finally the conflict between West Indies and New Zealand settles down as the match ends up in a DRAW!!!! The result would be a very disappointing one for the Kiwis but the West Indians would be quite happy to get something better than a lost game. At one stage West Indies were to put down a trail of 496 runs but Daren Sammy & co. found a way out of the trouble.
Darren Bravo made a fantastic double century the other day and it was his maiden one. The man made his dropped catch count as he did not only put his team out of crisis but also he put his team into lead. Everybody expected an on going innings as he was quote well-settled on the ground and he had no worries about the other end but all the expectations were burried in dust as Darren Bravo could only take his total to 218 runs(31 fours). Finally his innings came to an end as he was bowled out by Trent Boult off a decent a delivery.
On the other hand Darren Sammy added 80 runs(8 fours and 3 sixes) to his team total which was a pretty handy. Finally the innings was ended up by Neil Wagner as he dismissed 2 West Indian batsmen in 2 back-to-back overs ending up the side at a total of 507 runs/10 wickets. This set a total of 112 runs for the home side in order to Draw the First Blood in the 3 match series.Tim Southee proved to be the stand out for the Black Caps for his excellent figures of 4 wickets-1 maidens-52 runs-16 overs

The Kiwis made a horrible start as they lost their two key batsmen including Peter Fulton & Aaron Redmond for just a total of 14 runs. Both the wickets were taken up by Shane Shillingford. No sooner, the Kiwi hut was 4 wickets down as Shane Shillingford dismissed 2 more batsmen including Hamish Rutherford and Brendon McCullum on a total of 44 runs. Still Ross Taylor and Corey Anderson  stood firm on te pitch as they did not allow any further wicket loss and took their side safely to 79 runs.

This time "Fortune Favored the Brave Ones". Soon after rain marked its presence on the ground. The Kiwis looked in an extremely wonderful condition with over 25 overs to go and 6 wickets in the trunk but the rain never went away till the end. As a result the match ended in a DRAW!!!!!!! It was a sheer disappointment for the New Zealanders but the West Indians were glad to receive anything better than a loss.

Man of the Match was awarded to Ross Taylor for his wonderful Double Century in the 1st Innings.
Still 2 games to come. Let's see who takes the mark in the series and who makes the first impression...........
