Ashes 2013-14, Test 2, Day 2.

Australia 570 runs/9 wickets(Dec.) - 1st Innings
         England 35/1 (21.0 ov) - 1st Innings
England trail by 535 runs with 9 wickets remaining in the 1st innings
2nd Day of the 2nd Ashes series started of pretty well for the home side. Michael Clarke and Brad Haddin stepped in with a lot of confidence. They looked fully determined in order to take their side to at least something that they can lean on. All eyes looked towards Brad Haddin who had gained a second chance because of a dropped catch.

The things went on the 2nd day for the Kangaroos pretty smoothly as Micheal Clarke and Brad Haddin started to play as if they were to score some massive runs and they did so. The skipper Micheal Clarke played excellently for his 148 runs, falling just 2 short of 150 runs, followed by 17 fours. He was dismissed by the debutant Ben Stokes. On the other hand Brad Haddin had a full mode of cashing on the given chance. The missed chance proved to be very costly as Haddin successfully scored another Century followed by 11 fours and 5 immense sixes. Finally he was dismissed by Broad for 118 runs. Micheal Clarke and Brad Haddin ended up with an astonishing partnership of 200 runs. The tale-enders fell down quite easily but Ryan Harris gave the innings a proper finish for scoring a breezy 55 runs of 54 balls including 6 fours and 2 massive sixes.
Finally the Aussie skipper to declare the innings and give the bats to the English Gentlemen. Stuart Broad again proved to be the best among the bowlers with his 3 key wickets. Ben stokes and Gremae Swann got rid of 2 batsmen while Monty Panesar and James Anderson got wicket a-piece.

In order to compete the total England needed a pretty positive start but it was all horrible for them. They lost the skipper Alastair Cook for just a total of 9 runs, bowled out due to a brute from Mitchell Johnson. Now it was upto Joe Root and the other opener, Michael Carberry to steady the ship. Both of them still stand on the crease at the end of the day with their respective totals of 9 and 20 runs. Still England trail by 535 runs which may be pretty big one for them. Let's see if the Gentlemen can stand up to the task or the Aussies keep on dominating......
