Pakistan vs. South Africa 2nd ODI. 27th November,2013.

Finally Pakistan break the shackles as the defeat South Africa in the 2nd ODI by 1 run and win the series by 2-0. This is the first ever ODI series win of Pakistan over South Africa over all the cricketing years.
2nd match between the two greens was played on 27th November in PORT ELIZABETH. The rain delayed the match start and the overs were decreased from 50 to 45 overs per side. Match started soon after the rain went away. South Africa having won the toss decided to bowl first thinking that the pitch would be favorable to seamers due to the moisture.
Pakistan's start proved that the Africans were right as Dale Steyn knocked over Nasir Jamshed for just 2 runs and no longer it took for him to get rid of who else but Muhammad Hafeez who fell again to Dale Steyn 15th time of 23 times. On the other hand Pakistan's ship was constantly being anchored by the two youngsters including Sohaib Maqsood & Ahmad Shahzad who put a partnership of 124 rums of 128 balls. Sohaib Maqsood played a steady innings of 42 runs(3x4s 0x6s) where as Ahmad Shahzad proved to be a Centurion as he scored 102(8x4s,2x6s) of 112 balls. This was the first century for Pakistan in the current year in ODI cricket. Later on Umer Akmal launched a quick fire of 42 runs(4x4s,2x6s) and Bilawal Bhatti played a little cameo for his 21 runs followed by 4 fours. However Anwer Ali was dragged out of the wicket for obstructing the field as a result of a controversial decision. This all led Pakistan to a sound total of 262 runs/10 wickets(45.0 overs) which was well above par score at this venue.Dale Steyn also proved to be a highlight who gained his best ever bowling figures 9 overs-0 maidens-6 wickets-39 runs.

South African innings started no differently as Junaid Khan removed Greame Smith for his 1 run. But later on Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock had some other ideas as they led South Africa to 97 runs. After this, de Kock was dismissed to Shahid Afridi and no sooner Kallis was also undone by the same man. There came the game changer, the Protean skipper AB de Villiers who just turned the match on its head. He played a blinder of  74 runs(8x4s,2x6s) with his massive shots range while Hashim Amla did the right thing to hold the anchor through out the match. This drove Pakistan well back but still they hung on till the last bell. Right after the departure of AB de Villiers Pakistan drove back into the game strongly while the dismissed Hashim Amla for his 98 runs(7x4s,0x6s) and JP Duminy.
Finally it ended in a nail biter finish when the injured Junaid Khan successfully defended 8 runs in the last over giving Pakistan a 1 run win over the host and the most important of that Pakistan made their first ever ODI series victory over the Proteas in the cricketing history.

Man of the Match was awarded for his excellent 102 runs of 108 balls who saved the day for Pakistan.

Still the last ODI game to come where Pakistan will be looking to white-wash the hosts where as the Proteas will be looking forward to win the last match as a consolation for them but it looks pretty difficult for them in the absence of Jacques Kallis and Dale Steyn. Let's see what time brings to us in the final clash for the two greens in the current year.............

India vs. West Indies 3rd ODI, 27th November, 2013.

India defeat West Indies  by 5 wickets with 23 balls to spare in the last and decisive match of the 3 ODI series.
The third and final match between the two Indians was played today. India started right at the top as they won the toss and decided to field first.
Keiron Powell, Darren Bravo and Marlon Samuels cashed their innings right on scoring 70 runs,51* runs and 71 runs respectively. Darren Sammy also made a quick fire of 37 runs off 29 balls followed by 2 fours and 1 six. This took West Indies to a decent total of 263 runs/5 wickets. Muhammad Shami, Ravi Jadeja and Mohit Sharma got one wicket a piece where as Ravichandran Ashwin grabbed two wickets.
Kanpur's wicket looked to be a great one for batting. Though Johnson Charles departed earlier in the innings but still
The total wasn't a massive one for such an immense batting side. In-spite of the early departure of Rohit Sharma & Virat Kohli the home side never looked in trouble.
Shikhar Dhawan filled up the gap by scoring a tremendous century followed by Yuvraj Singh's 50. Shikar Dhawan scored 119 runs followed by 20 fours while Yuvraj Singh got 55 runs composed of 7 fours. The final touches were given by MS Dhon, Suresh Raina and Ravinder Jadeja scoring 23 runs,34 runs and 2 runs respectively. Finally India won by 5 wickets with 23 balls left and wrapped the 3- match trophy too.
Man of the Match was awarded to Shikhar Dhawan for his marvelous century where as Virat Kohli was awarded the Man of the Series.

Pakistan vs. South Africa 1st ODI, 23rd November 2013.

Finally Pakistan break the shatters as they get back on the winning tracks and finally defeat South Africa in the 1st ODI on their short tour on the Protean Land.
bat first. South Africa side welcomed Jacques Kallis where as Pakistan brought on two new ODI faces in the form of Anwar Ali and Bilawal Bhatti.
The match was played yesterday. Pakistan won the toss and decided to
Pakistan started their batting very cautiously and made sure that they didn't lose any wicket but still the scoring rate was very low one. Finally Pakistan lost their 1st wicket in the form of Nasir Jamshed to Dale Steyn and then what, the line started up to scramble up. Again Steyn caught his regular prey , Muhammad Hafeez for just 5 runs. Some resistance was shown by Shahid Afridi & Sohaib Maqsood who scored 22 and 26 runs respectively. Soon Pakistan were 131 runs/ 7 wickets. However 2 debutants stepped up with a lot of confidence and palyed a much needed cameo. Bilawal Bhatti scored 39 runs and Anwar Ali stood upto 42* runs. The debutants gave themselves something to bowl at by taking Pakistan to 218 runs/9 wickets in the complete 50 overs.
South Africa didn't have a huge task but it still had to be done. Pakistani bowlers straight went on the top as they got rid of Hashim Amla and Greame Smith pretty quickly. Jacques Kallis had some other ideas as he scored exact 50 runs in his come back but he could stay no longer. The game initially favored the Proteas initially but the debutants, Bilawal Bhatti and Anwar Ali again made their mark by getting 3 and 2 wickets respectively. JP Duminy fought hard till end for his 49 runs but neither he could do a thing for his team. Shahid Afridi again grasped AB de Villiers' wicket. Finally Pakistan successfully defended the total what looked well below under the average par score and did what had been undone for the past month or so and won by 23 runs.
Man of the Match was awarded to Anwar Ali due to his amazing all-around perormance on the field. Pakistan are now 1-0 up in the 3 match series. Let's see if the Asians can wrap up the series in 6the next match or The Proteas return wwith an immense fire in the coming two matches........

India vs. West Indies 2nd ODI, 24th November,2014.

The game between West Indies and India was played between yesterday. Both the Indians were keen to win the match as India looked forward to seal the series West Indies were on their heels in the absence of Chris Gayle as they had to win the match in order to remain alive in the 3-match series.
The toss went the West Indies way as who decided to bowl first. India didn't mind batting first. Though they lost Rohit Sharma early on in the hunt but still Virat Kohli & the skipper Ms Dhoni were right where they left in the last match. Unfortunately Virat Koli fell 1 short for his 100 and got out to Ravi Rampaul on 99 while the skipper MS Dhoni blasted the ball for his quick fire of 51 runs. India managed a reasonable total of 288 runs/7 wickets. Ravi Rampaul got 4 wickets for 60 runs.

West Indies started just with the right passion but without Gayle in the side it just looked impossible but batters had other ideas. Though Johnson Charles and Marlon Samuels left earlier in the innings but Kieran Powell and Darren Bravo pulled up their side by scoring 50 and 52 runs respectively                      . Lendl Simmons also delivered a cameo of  62 runs. West Indies were bit disturbed in the middle overs where they lost their 5 wickets. But Darren Sammy remained there and made sure that he got his time right over the line and scored a healthy 63 runs*. West Indies closed the match in the last over and won by 2 wickets with 3 balls to spare.Bhushvneshwar Kumar, Ravichandran Ashwin and Muhammad Shami got 2 wickets each but it was all in vain.
Man of the Match was awarded to Darren Sammy for his match saving innings of 63 runs* and a key wicket of Yuvraj Singh. So West Indies square the series as they remain alive in the 3 match series. Let's see what happens in the last and decisive match and who take the trophy home.......

The Ashes 2013-14 Test 1, Day 4

                         Australia 295 runs(all out) - 1st innings
                     England 136 runs(all out) - 1st inning
     Australia 401 runs/7 wickets(lead by 560 runs) - 2nd innings
     England 179 runs/10 wickets(lost by 381 runs) - 2nd innings

So finally there we have a result for the 1st fire from the Ashes as Australia wipe away the English team. Australia defeat England by 381 runs in the 1st Ashes Test Match from the Ashes. Australia have been looking pretty dominant right from the start of the match. First an impressive batting performance followed by the demolition of the English batting up marked their dominance but the humungous target of 561 runs just broke the back of the English side.
The 4th day started with the English batting line-up still out of order. The hosts just climbed up on to the game with an impressive performance again by Mitchell Johnson 21.1-7-45-5(2nd Innings) who just devastated the Guests along with the company of Ryan Harris, Nathan Lyon and Peter Siddle who got 2,2,and 1 wickets respectively. From England no one could really click despite the skipper, Alastair Cook scoring just 65 runs but got out to Nathan Lyon. Joe Root remained not out but could not save the day for his team. Australia found a way through the gate and won the match.

Mitchell Johnson was awarded the Man of the Match for his 9 wickets in the match. So Australia go up 1-0 in the five match Ashes. Still a lot to come. Let's see if the English side could defend their title or it's Australia who reclaim what hasn't been their for the past 5 years.

The Ashes 2013-2014,Test 1 Day 3.

                      Australia 295 runs(all out) - 1st innings
                       England 136 runs(all out) - 1st inning                           Australia 401 runs/7 wickets(lead by 560 runs) - 2nd innings

       England 24 runs/2 wickets(trail by 537 runs) - 2nd innings

Australia are on their way to regain what they were as they get a strangle hold over the 1st Ashes test match. The day started with the fireworks sponsored by David Warner who scored 3rd test century today. Another centurian Micheal Clarke also joined the action scoring his 24th test century. Both of them scored 124 runs and 113 runs respectively. Their combined effort along the batters helped Australia to cruise towards a total of  401 runs/7 wickets where they just declared their innings giving the guests an immense total of 560 runs with 2 days to go.

England again started the day in an unconvincing manner as Michael Carberry and Jonathon Trott left earlier in the match. Still Kevin Pietersen and Alastair Cook stand with a huge company to come. Let's see if England can reach the task or Australia take the match to their name.

Pakistan vs. South Africa 2nd T20I, 22nd November,2013.

2nd T201 was played between South Africa as Pakistan are on a short 10 day tour to South Africa. The first match between the teams went to the host in an unconvincing manner as South Africa had won that match by 4 runs due to D/L method but still Pakistan were hunting for a desperate victory while the Proteas were looking forward to maintain the streak. What happened, let's find out.
Pakistan same as the first match won the toss but elected to bat first. The pitch looked real slower than that of Johannesburg and looked to be an amazing track to bat on. Pakistan called back Saeed Ajmal for Anwer Ali while South Africa made 3 changes. They brought David Weise for Lonwabo Tsotsobe, Aaron Phangiso for Imran Tahir and AB de Villiers for Henry Davids.
Pakistan started really cautiously as they stood with just 25 runs in 4 overs for 1 wicket. It looked as the Pakistani will be soon back in their hut just like they had been doing earlier but this time the skipper Muhammad Hafeez and Umar Akmal had different ideas. Hafeez and Akmal scored marvellously for their respective 63(5x4s 3x6s) and 64(5x4s 4x6s) runs.
However the competition between Muhammad Hafeez & Dale Steyn was again won by Steyn as he again dismissed Hafeez for the 13th time.Pakistan moved towards an immense total. With a bit of help from Boom Boom Afridi Pakistan unexpectedly scored a mighty total of 176 runs/4 wickets setting a massive target of 177 runs for the hosts to chase on.
Quinton de Kock and Hashim Amla got the early boundaries in the powerplay which they needed. Unfortunately the inform youngster fell to Shahid Afridi on his very first bell. He left the crease after scoring 26 runs(4x4s 0x6s). Later on Afridi took away the wickets 2 major wickets of AB de Villiers and the Protean skipper Faf du Plessis. It gave South Africa a big jerk and soon after the dismissal of Hashim Amla(48 runs 5x4s 0x6s) by Saeed Ajmal South Africa looked to scramble all over the place but then came in JP Duminy and David Miller. Both of them tried extremely hard to pull back the match. The match came to an immense last over when only 17 runs were needed for the hosts to take away the series but Sohail Tanvir saved the day for Pakistan by defending these runs with his perfect yorkers giving Pakistan a 7 runs victory. The series ended up 1-1 sharing the silver ware.
South Africa were on to a flyer as
Finally Pakistan have broken the shatters as they look back on their winning track but all this happened due to a good batting performance from the struggling Pakistanis. Man of the Match & Man of the series, both the awards were claimed by the Pakistani skipper Muhammad Hafeez giving an excellent all-around performance in the series...........
Still we are left with the 3 ODIs comimg and see if Pakistan can keep up the good work or the Soyth Africa will come back with a strong wish of revival.Wait and watch......

Ashes 2013-14 Test 1 Day 2

                             Australia 295 runs(all out) - 1st innings
                    England 136 runs(all out) - 1st innings
              Australia 65 runs/0 wickets(lead by 224 runs)

Australia are determined on their hunt to regain their Ashes Trophy as they demolish the English site with the bats and bowls. Brad Haddin left the crease after scoring a breezy 94 runs. Haddin and Johnson took Australia to a reasonable total of 295 runs which was actually something to defend. England had a good trail to beat on a pitch which looked reasonably good for the seamers as Broad had already taken away 6 wickets.

England struggled right from the start as they lost an early wicket of the skipper Alastair Cook who scored an individual 13 runs only. Michael Carberry continued to score but could only reach upto 40 runs. There scrambled the English site. No one else could continue. All courtesy to a brute of a bowling from Mitchell Johnson as he perished 4 of the English Batsmen including Carberry, Trott, Root and Greame Swann. Ryan Harris gave a full support from the other end as he took away 3 major wickets including the Skipper Alastair Cook, Kevin Pietersen & Chris Tremlett. This restricted the Gentlemen to 136 runs only giving the Kangaroos 149 runs.

Australia started with Chris Rogers and David Warner unlikely the 1st innings, the two Left-handers still stand on the crease with 15 and 45 runs respectively. Australia hold a 224 runs lead and look in an extremely comfortable condition with a 3 day game still to come. The game looks in the favor of the Kangaroos as they hold an immense lead. Still a 3 day game is to come and everybody knows that how quickly the game can turn on its head. So wait and watch as an immense Ashes action stand right in front.....

India vs. West Indies 1st ODI

The action from India is back to live screens as the 1st ODI between the two Indians was played today. With a young in form Indian Batting site the Caribbeans were to be presented a tough challenge but they were ready for it.
The toss was won by the visitors and they elected to bat first. With Dwayne Bravo, Jason Holder and Ravi Rampaul, West Indies looked a much better site than the tests.
The decision proved to be a disisterous one for the islanders as the big man "Christopher Henry Gayle" was dismissed for a DUCK by Kumar. But the deck was settled by the 65 runs stand between Marlon Samuels and Johnson Charles scoring 24 and 42 runs respectively. Darren Bravo scored 59 runs but the West Indian team was bowled out for 212 runs in only 35.2 overs. Raina & Jadeja took away 3 wickets each in their complete 10 overs.
West Indies set a total of 212 runs only which proved to be a wall of sand in front of the Indians. Though Shikhar Dhawan was early taken up by Jason Holder but Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma pulled the game back scoring 86 and 72 runs respectively. The finishing touches were given by MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh finishing the match in exact 35.2 overs. India won the match comfortably by 6 wickets leading the 3 match series by 1-0. The Man of the Match was awarded to Virat Kohli for his wonderful 86 runs.
Let's see what more would be presented in the net 2 matches

Ashes 2013-14 1st Test Day 1

                            Australia  273 runs/8 wickets(90 overs)
England are now on the Australian soil where they claimed the tiny trophy last time and now they have to defend their Ashes Trophy but the Kangaroos are eager to reclaim what has been lost for the past 5 years. With some changes involving the debutant George Bailey Australia are working out on the ways to get their hands back on the Ashes.
The Ashes fever is back 2nd time in the same year but with a swapped host and visitors.
Today the 1st test of the the 5 had started. Australia winning the toss decided to bat on a track which gave equal respect to the bowlers and the batsmen.
Australia started in a horrible manner by the early loss of Chris Rogers who was victimized by the last summer's 5 wicket taker Stuart Broad. However the ship was steadied a bit from Shane Watson and David Warner putting together a total of 59 runs. Unfortunately Watson was dismissed by the same man Stuart Broad. After a short partnerships with the skipper Micheal Clarke and the Steve Smith , Warner was also dismissed by the man in sublime form, again Stuart Broad. Australian deck begin to tremble again but a 114 runs partnership between Mitchell Johnson and Brad Haddin took Australia to 246 runs/7 wickets. Broad being again the beaker took away the bails                                                                         of Johnson scoring 64 runs.
Now Australia stand on 273 runs/8 wickets with Brad Haddin & Ryan Harris scoring individual scores of 78 and 4 runs respectively. Stuart Broad being the player of the day got another 5 Wicket Haul with his figures of  20 overs-3 maidens-65 runs-5 wickets(econ. 3.25 rpo).
Still a 4 day action stands ahead. Lets's see what is coming up.....

Pakistan vs. South Africa 1st T20I 20 November,2013.

First T20I between Pakistan and South Africa was played yesterday while the Asians are on a brief 10 days African Safari. Rain delayed the start at Johannesberg which was expected.
Pakistan won the Toss and elected to Field first as the pitch looked greener as it is used to be. Many of them thought that its gonna be pacer paradise. South Africa moved in making one change in their team i.e. J.P. Duminy was called in for AB de Villiers. On the other hand Pakistan had limited 13 member camp but still they had a company to play with making a few changes. Anwer Ali and Umer Amin were called in, back to the T20I site where as Bilawal Bhatti was on his debute. Pakistan went without Saeed Ajmal giving him a pill of rest. Hashim Amla and Quintn de Kock took South Africa off to a flyer with their 43 and 31 runs respectively. David Miller also played a little cameo of 19 runs followed by 2 Fours and 1 massive SIX. South Africa looked as if they would go 200+ as they were 1/72 in just 7.5 overs but the things were equally well controlled in further half as Pakistan bowlers came back strongly limiting the Proteas to a total of 153 runs/7 wickets. Junaid Khan and Muhammad Hafeez took away 2 important wickets each.
Pakistan had to achieve a total of 154 runs which was never a difficult one under such a lightening outfield. Pakistan looked firm right from the start. Despite the loss of 2 wickets, Pakistan were 60-1 in 9.1 overs. Pakistan started to get regular boundaries but just when they were looking to pump their run rate rain came in destroying the whole craze. The showers were so heavy that the players had to move off. At that moment Pakistan were 4 runs below D/L par score. Rain decided to conquer Johannesberg and didn't go away. As a result match was finished in favor of the Proteas giving South Africa a 4 runs victory through D/L method.....Quinton de Kock was awarded the Man of the Match for his 43 runs just off 33 balls.
.     South Africa lead the 2 match series by 1-0.
Shatters still remain unbroken on the Pakistan site which were just looking to move away. Nonetheless here still a match to go between the two greens at Cape Town. Lets see if Pakistan can do what is not happening currently or the Protean dominance continues.

Wednesday 20 November 2013

T20I fever is back again between the two GREENS but on the PROTEAN land. All you need are your live streams to follow....

Injury woes Abdul Razzaq and Shoaib Malik from tour to South Africa November,2013

Pakistan still struggling with the bats in hands, there is still no good news for them. Injury takes away the two Pakistani All-Rounders i.e. Abdul Razzaq and Shoaib Malik have been sent back straight to Pakistan from South Africa. It has been confirmed that medium pacer all-rounder Abdul Razzaq has been undone by Hamstring injury during a practice session where as on the other hand  Shoaib Malik is still suffering from his Fractured Finger . Remember that the accident took place when Malik got a good short ball from Wayne Parnell 4 days earlier in 2nd T20I at Dubai. Remeber that Pakistan have been already deprived from the 7'1'' Muhammad Irfan due to muscle pull.                                                          It is still not confirmed that if it is an accidental injury or both the players were not treated well enough from their team physician. Remember that already Zulfiqar Babar had worsen his injury due to poor attention form Dr. Wahab which is currently the teams physicain.

When asked by the officials on the players' injury PCB officials commented "The decision was taken by the tour selection committee after consultation with the team's doctor and a South African doctor." Further it was also told that "Razzaq suffered from a severe hamstring injury while training the day before yesterday while Malik's hand injury was exacerbated because of the travel stress. The tour selection committee has not asked for replacements."
Still no replacements have been announced for the two all-rounders by the officials in the short 10 day tour. Further it was also commented that "It is quite difficult to make the arrangements of visa and other formalities for such a short tour." It has been indicated that no more players would get a trip to the Protean land marking that Misbah-ul-Haq may come into action in the T20Is as well. It is not confirmed if any replacements will be made or not.

It has been also rumored that later on in the upcoming January 2014 , a triangular series will be played between the Asian Super Forces including India, Pakistan and Srilanka.
Pakistan struggling with their batting will be under definite pressure due to pacy pitches  which will completely suite to the Proteas. Pakistan will try their best to put the past behind their backs but South Africa will be keen to keep on their devastating bowling. Still its too early to say anything but the South Africa are definitely the hot favourites but you never know what cricket brings to you.
Both the squads have been announced. South Africa are completely unchanged but Pakistan have made two changes forming a 17 member squad which will play 3 ODIs and 2 T20Is. Pakistan squad includes
Misbah-ul-Haq (captain ODI), Mohammad Hafeez (captain T20), Ahmed Shehzad, Umar Akmal (wk), Umar Amin, Shahid Afridi, Abdul Razzaq, Shoaib Malik, Sohaib Maqsood, Sohail Tanvir, Anwar Ali, Junaid Khan, Saeed Ajmal, Abdur Rehman, Nasir Jamshed, Asad Shafiq, Bilawal Bhatti
Muhammad Irfan and Wahab Riaz miss out the short tour. South African T20I side are totally unchanged and their is no confirmation about the ODI side.
Lets see if Pakistan can improve their batting and do what has been undone for so long or South Africa keep on terrorizing the Asians. What ever happens, all we want is an excellent series of cricket matches because CRICKET WE LOVE YOU............

Newzealand tour to Srilanka 3rd ODI 2013 and Upcoming T20I.

The first match had no result due the interruption of rain and the other game was just taken away by the KIWIS getting an unbeatable lead. Black Caps had to win the next match too to wrap up the series but the Srilankans wanted to avoid a home defeat. They were on their wits end in order to level the series which was the least amongst what could be done.

3rd ODI between the two islanders was played yesterday. Newzealand led the 3 match series by  of 1-0.
The match started late from the scheduled time leading to the lessening of number of overs. The toss was won by the Black Caps and they decided to field first. Srilanka did every thing right despite the toss. Their opening was controlled by Mahela Jayawardene and TM Dilshan scoring a cameo of 46 and 53 runs respectively. Srilanka finished with 211 runs/8 wickets. Mitchell Mcelanaghan took away 2 wickets for 37 runs in 7 overs.
Later on, the rain interrupted again and Kiwis had to chase a D/L adjusted total of 163 runs from 25 overs with a rate of 6.52 runs per over. The target was never out of reach but Senanayake and Herath  just perished the Kiwi upper order. Newzealand looked in all sorts of trouble right from the beginning. A bit of spark was shown from Nathan McCullum and Jimmy Neesham scoring 35 and 42 runs respectively. However the resistance couldn't stand hard enough to avoid Srilanka's 36 runs victory. Newzealand could only manage a total of 126 runs/6 wickets. In this way Srilanka avoided the home series defeat and shared the silverware. Man of the Match was awarded to Sachitra Senanayake for his excellent figures of            5 overs-1 maiden-2 wickets-14 runs(econ. 2.80) where as Tilakaratne Dilshan was given the  Man of the Series award for his consistent batting throughout the series.
This was all from the ODIs but still a lot to come from the two teams in the upcoming 2 T20s. Lets see who gets through the shorter format. Will Srilanka maintain their 1st position the ICC T20 ratings or  KIWIS will climb up the hill.Until then ramian tuned in right here.
